Lactona started production of the first multi-tufted toothbrush with a rubber tip in the United States in 1954. The first Lactona toothbrush lands on the moon 1969, during the Apollo 11 mission.

In 1972 Lactona was introduced to the Dutch market. In 1982 the production facility for the European market relocated to Bergen op Zoom and ownership of Lactona passed into Dutch hands 14 years later. Today a network of export distributors represents Lactona worldwide.
